Lyall Bay Houses, Wellington

These three houses were demolished in 2007, before I could photograph them properly, these are just a few bitsy shots with a borrowed camera- so not the best (the houses were gone the day after I took these) I got lots of old bottles from this site, and found many that were smashed by the bulldozers.

I'd always liked these modest houses by the sea, and had always fancied living in one of them- mainly for the great location. It's a beautiful place and I still go there often.
The families who lived in them fished, I used to see nets hung up outside. They obviously had children as there were quite a few pictures of kids and little toys left behind.
Two of the houses were pretty rough inside, with holes in the walls and floors in some places.
The most run down of the houses had a sad, creepy feeling inside, it was burned down on Guy Fawkes night.

There is now a proposal to build a 'Marine Education Centre' at this site.
